The TrotSAR Mounted Search & Rescue Team is a volunteer team of skilled, credentialed first responder resources on horseback, locating and providing aid to lost/missing persons in wilderness, suburban, and urban environments. TrotSAR's primary response area is within the States of Maryland and Virginia, however, the team remains ready for deployment within the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region III (MD, VA, DE, PA, WV, and DC). At the request of public safety agencies outside of the region, additional emergency services required for disaster relief and homeland security may be included in the mission, as outlined within the National Response Framework and Homeland Security Presidential Directives. TrotSAR has been providing a Public Service to Emergency Services Community within the Mid-Atlantic region since 1992. Our Mounted Team has formal response MOU's with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the Maryland State Police and the Maryland Natural Resources Police, and SAR response agreements with the Pennsylvania SAR Council and the West Virginia SAR Council.

The TrotSAR Mounted Search & Rescue Team Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit tax-exempt organization, devoted to working for various federal, state, and local governments, during incidents of lost and missing persons. All team members and their mounts must successfully pass state and local performance standards that have been mandated for both ground and mounted Search and Rescue first responder resources.

Our Mounted Units respond to and provide the following services:

• Wilderness, rural, and urban/suburban searches for missing/lost persons
• Disaster response ground teams and manpower assistance
• Mounted Perimeter Patrols for large restricted access areas
• Community Relations and Safety Events
• Wilderness Educational Programs
